If she had words

Mom, I am dying,
I know I am,
I know I am an unwelcome guest,
An unwelcome guest to people,
To people born of mothers,
To people with sisters and
To people who married women for wives.

I am an unwelcome guest,
For, to them I am born with bills,
Bills due for buying a bridegroom.

I am dying, dying in the very arms,
In the very arms of yours.......
I sympathise with you mom,
I feel sorry to feel your heart,
The heart, which aches with agony,
I feel sorry to see your pains,
To see the pains, the pains you bore,
To bring me here unharmed, in vain.
I’ve come here, only to be harmed........

I won’t blame you, mummy…
I know that you loved me,
And that you do love me still........

Now, in some time,
When you are to lose me and my love ,
I have a wish mom, the last wish,
The last wish of your sweet,
Which, if you will, can fulfil.....
Which I hope you will;

Before your hands are forced to feed me,
To feed me from your sweet hands,
That sweetened poison, sweet because you feed,
Feed me with your milk of love,
The love that I’ll never get,
The love whose labour is lost.....

Forget me not, mom,
I know you will not,
Remember me please,
Remember me when my brothers are pampered,
To tell them of a sister or perhaps sisters they had.

I am not angry with you,
I know you love me........
I will not blame you,
For it’s not you to be blamed,
But our men........
Those who speak for women,
Speak of our grace to save their face,
Boast our greatness and bury us in their backyards,
Need one woman to kiss and another to kill…….

But I thank them too, for
They’ve made me escape misery,
The pain of being burnt alive,
The trauma of killing my daughter,
I am spared of that agony,
Because, I am dying young.

They are the ones to miss me,
Miss a Gargi or a Maitreyi,
Miss a Sarojini or an Indu,
Miss an Agnes or a Curie.........

I have nothing to miss, dear mom,
Except you and your love.
I too love you, Mom,
Yes, I really do love you.

Now go on, feed me,
Please feed me by my wish,
And then feed me with the sweet poison,
Feed me as you were instructed,
And then, put me to sleep,
Singing lullabies I’ve never heard,
Singing those I’ll never hear.

Put me to sleep, a peaceful slumber,
In mother Earth’s bosom,
Who at least, will deliver me into a world,
Where I am not a guest unwelcome,
Where I shall meet you later,
Or even my sisters.........
Where none shall make us part.

Now, mummy, kiss me and go on..........
Cry not my beloved mother…..
Please cry not…… for you know that I love you,
And we know, we love each other.....……………………………………………………………….
